Advise to speakers
Speakers are kindly asked to take into account the following :
Please adapt your talk to the very audience and the purpose of the
meeting !
Please talk more about "ideas, motivations, methods and applications" than
about technical details.
Please consider that this is, first and foremost, the meeting of a
"training network" , so on the one hand the talks should be, in principal,
understandable by any good PhD student in PDEs, on the other hand it
would be nice to give a pedagocial example of how to give a talk.
In general, talks will be based on transparencies or transparencies plus
blackboard (which is technically very well possible in the lecture hall !).
Use of "modern" techniques like "powerpoint" etc. is welcome - please contact
the organizers in time for a test !
Material for preparing transparencies can be obtained at the registration
desk !
- The "US speakers" have a "wild card" to choose their topic. They
are kindly asked to present it for the broad audience of A-HYKE.
- The 4 "thematic overview talks" should please introduce the theme in
a way that on the one hand gives an overview what HYKE is working on and
on the other hand what is going on outside HYKE. It should please not be only
a summary of the speakers own work and avoid technicalities.
- The goal of the "working sessions" is both to present a short overview
and motivation of the topic and present several examples of work within HYKE
on that. These short presentations, preferably by "Young HYKErs" are particularily
difficult to prepare.
Please avoid any "jargon" for the very specialists and avoid any technical
details that only a handful of the more than 100 people in the audience can
appreciate.
WARNING : The Coordinator and the Scientist-in-charge, together with the head of the
training committee, might decide to turn off the microphone in case of a serious violation
of the above advice for more than 5 minutes ;-)
